I'll Sleep When I'm Dead bears many striking similarities to Mike's debut, the classic Get Carter. Both films feature men who return to their former hometowns to investigate the death of a brother who has died under mysterious circumstances. The film was edited in 35mm film on an outmoded Steenbeck: to have a tactile handle on the pace and so that we would not view the film on a tv monitor, the ultimate destination for so many movies.
