My enthusiasm for television began in the early nineties when I met the then commissioning editor for C4’s Dispatches, David Lloyd. I was inspired by the combination of his determination to challenge the status quo and his passion to make aesthetically groundbreaking films. Also around that time Adam Curtis’s ‘Pandora’s Box’ was broadcast and I recognised the exciting possibilities of working in the genre.

Despite the commercial constraints on TV doc’s over the years and the ubiquity of reality TV, I’m just as enthusiastic now as I was then. The intellectual challenges remain the same and every edit comes with its own education and opportunity to tell a story in a way that makes it urgent and fresh.
